Internet dating seems to be a potentially reckless and frightening experience. I am writing an article (maybe book) developed from personal experiences of real people. If you have a "story" and most people do, please share it here. Please do not use real names,as this will be used for other projects. Thanks for sharing and happy dating.
I have had good and bad experiences with internet dating. The bad ones often involved meeting someone who did not look like the posted picture and behaved like they knew they were cyber lying. The good ones resulted in good dates and a couple of friends that I still chat with, just not the love life I want. Basically, I feel that the people on dating sites are there for some very simple reasons: 1. they want to show off their body or need an ego boost by having people chase them, 2. they want to have revenge or get even with a past lover, 3. they are desperately lonely and uncomfortable with their own company, 4. they are nymphos and just need a bigger cue line that the bar can offer, 5. they are illegal immigrants looking for permanent residency status. Too bad, most people in those categories are not really good dates, unless you are just out for sex. It's easy to look at all the people online and think that there has to be someone out there for me. Well there is, but (s)he may not be posting. All the really good ones are taken. - Ben Dover
I have not had a good experience so far with the internet dating sites. The biggest disappoitment so far is that people say they want to get to know you and that they don't mind if a person has a few extra pounds but then t hey decide that you are not worth knowing because you are overweight. I do not misrepresent myself. I guess the guy I want is somewhere else.
